Rome and the great Fashion Fouses

For centuries, Rome has been the center of Italian culture, not only for the undeniable history that the city displays through its numerous monuments and places of interest, but also for what over the years the capital has come to represent. public opinion has always been Milan the city of Italian fashion par excellence but in fact it is Rome, the Eternal City, that leaves an indelible mark in the world of haute couture, transforming itself from year to year into an increasingly powerful sounding board for Italian stylists. Many famous fashion houses have in fact found their stage among the streets of the capital and, although the designers themselves are often not originally from the so-called Caput Mundi, many of them have not missed the opportunity to establish their business and their art.

Among the most famous fashion houses in the world, it is easy to mention first of all Valentino, who since 1957, the year the brand was created, is recognized worldwide as the quintessential symbol of Italian elegance and creativity. One of its largest boutiques is located right in Piazza di Spagna, in the heart of the capital, halfway between the historic Trevi Fountain and the famous Piazza del Popolo.

This flagship store differs greatly from the classic showroom, promoting a new identity compared to that of a classic boutique and effectively managing to combine tradition with innovation. Moreover, the place where this boutique stands, namely Piazza di Spagna, does not even seem so casual if you think that a few meters from the store, in via dei Condotti, in 1959 a young budding designer named Valentino Garavani created there his first atelier.

Last but certainly not least, the well-known fashion house Fendi also has its roots in the capital. In fact, the brand was founded in Rome in 1925 by Edoardo Fendi and Adele Casagrande. Going down via dei Condotti and arriving at the intersection with Via del Corso, with the Spanish Steps behind it, there is one of the main shops in Rome. The Palazzo Fendi thus stands out among all for its beauty, not only thanks to the collections present inside it but also for the architectural elegance of its building.

There would still be many Roman fashion houses to mention, protagonists of the Eternal City for good taste and class, but there is no doubt the role that Rome has played for years for Italian fashion. Historic center of the Dolce Vita and undisputed star of cinematography, the Italian capital never ceases to amaze anyone who loses a second of their time to admire it.
